Diego descends with a small group of other children from a favela in Rio onto a nearby field where Mari Monteiro, a young hang gliding pilot, lands her glider most Friday afternoons. On this Friday, Mari discovers that Diego is being run as a money mule by Falcão, the "falcon," the local favela kingpin. Anxious to free Diego and other orphans from their desperate plight, Mari searches for the means--and the courage--to rescue the children, but finds herself ill prepared to tangle with the calculating Falcão.
